In what appears to be an annual tradition at this point, 2022 sucked! It’s no secret it sucked for the world at large, and more personally, it sucked for Emily and me. Just to list a few of the greatest hits this year, we lost nearly everything we own in an apartment fire, went five months without our own place to live, I went ten months without being medicated for mental illness, and as if we needed one more kick in the dick as the year drew to a close, we had to put our dog down December 29th. Good riddance to 2022!
If not for the kindness and generosity of a remarkable community of people we have on both coasts, I don’t know how we would’ve made it, but here we are still standing! (If you’re reading this post, there’s a very good chance you’re a part of that community, and I love and appreciate you!!)
As is the case with most difficult times for me, movies played a huge role in keeping my head above water. Just a hair’s breadth behind, books are a very, very, very close second, and music makes a very strong showing, but cinema is still my greatest refuge, inspiration, and love. They helped save me this year as they so often do.
Anyway, these are all the movies I watched this year. Here’s to a great 2023 full of better things and even more movies!
